Half-Day Activities

Optional Care

Optional Care in District 65 is available on School Improvement Days (half-day of school) and on days where there is no school due to Parent-Teacher Conferences (October and February). On Optional Care days, field trips or other special activities are planned for participants. In previous school years, students have enjoyed trips to the grove, Waveland Bowl for cosmic bowling, jump zone, Centre East Theatre, Field Museum, and a fun-filled field day at Evanston Township High School. All K-5 students are eligible to participate in the Optional Care program (based on enrollment and non-refundable).

Open Studio Project

Art & Adventure ALL AGES

These classes coincide with District 65 Early Release Days! Support your child's creativity in an open, playful atmosphere where adventurous use of materials is encouraged. They will explore a variety of 2-D and 3-D materials. Follow your child on his/her artistic path. Taught by Jan Ellenstein who has been making art fun for children for the last 30 years as well as organizing arts festivals. Children under 6 must attend with a parent. All materials and snacks are included, and parent/caregiver comes free with child.
